YOUR IMPACT
We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Marketing & Events Lead to drive our marketing and events function, strengthening Diabetes Victoria’s brand, increasing awareness and utilisation of services and programs, and ensuring the successful and sustainable delivery of our events portfolio.
This role holds end-to-end strategic and operational responsibility for the full lifecycle of events from creative concept development and planning, through to implementation, risk management, and continuous improvements across Diabetes Victoria’s face-to-face and digital events, including NDSS events and activities. You’ll bring fresh, engaging ideas and work closely with the Leadership Team and CEO to deliver high-impact experiences aligned to our priorities.
You will also lead a team of four (Event Coordinator, Strategic Events Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, and Administration Officer – Events & Marketing) and provide expert marketing and events advice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the annual Marketing and Events Plan aligned to organisational strategy, including performance measures, evaluation and reporting.
- Provide expert marketing advice and support across Diabetes Victoria, managing internal marketing needs and delivery.
- Strengthen and steward the Diabetes Victoria brand across events and channels, advising on brand positioning and awareness.
- Design and lead integrated campaigns, owning project management of high-impact initiatives such as Community Impact Awards.
- Lead the planning and delivery of NDSS and non-NDSS programs and events, including the annual Master Events Plan and event documentation (calendar, suppliers, procedures).
- Manage policies, processes and procedures for events across the organisation, ensuring quality, consistency and regulatory compliance (including ISO requirements).
- Lead and develop the events/marketing team through recruitment, onboarding, KPIs, performance reviews, workflow planning and professional development.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a confident marketing and events leader who can balance strategy with delivery take ownership of all aspects of events, and bring creative concepts that engage audiences. You’ll lead the organisation in seeing these concepts through to implementation while using insights and data to guide decisions. You will build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, including partners and other organisations, to participate in events and elevate the calibre and impact of our events. You’ll bring strengths in marketing, event planning, stakeholder management, campaign management, analytics and reporting, and problem-solving.
- Advising on marketing and brand strategy, including event planning, implementation, improvement and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team, including coaching, performance management, workflow planning, and supporting professional development.
- Building effective internal and external stakeholder relationships to develop impactful and engaging events.
- Providing marketing advice and support across an organisation, especially as it relates to campaigns and activations.
- Understanding of the needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and how to adjust initiatives accordingly.
Qualifications and requirements (essential unless noted):
- Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, business, or equivalent experience.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- Ability to work outside of business hours and overnight (preferred)
