We are seeking an exceptional Head Coach on a fixed-term contract to lead our WBBL program for the 2026 season. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced high-performance coach to shape an elite campaign, work with world-class athletes and staff, and lead one of the competition’s most recognised teams during Australia’s premier domestic T20 competition.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Female Cricket, the WBBL Head Coach is responsible for creating a
high-performance environment that enables players and staff to perform at their
best. You will provide strategic and technical leadership across all aspects of
the program, including training, match preparation, game strategy, player
development, team culture and selection, while working closely with Cricket
Victoria’s multidisciplinary support staff.
As one of the
public faces of the Melbourne Stars, you’ll also represent the club through
media, commercial and community commitments, while building strong
relationships with Cricket Australia, sponsors and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of
the Melbourne Stars WBBL high-performance program.
- Develop and implement tournament
and match-day strategies that maximise team performance.
- Provide technical coaching and
oversee individual player development.
- Lead match selection processes
and end-of-season player reviews.
- Foster an inclusive, accountable
and psychologically safe team environment.
- Lead and collaborate with
coaching, medical, S&C, sport science and support staff.
- Support player recruitment and
list management in line with WBBL regulations.
- Represent the Melbourne Stars
across media, commercial and community engagements.
About You
You’re an experienced high-performance coach who brings strong technical expertise,
outstanding leadership and the ability to build a connected, accountable and
high-performing environment. You thrive under pressure, enjoy developing people
and are passionate about helping teams perform when it matters most.
You’ll also bring:
- Level 3 Cricket Coaching
Accreditation (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement).
- Demonstrated experience coaching
within an elite or high-performance cricket environment.
- Experience leading
high-performance athletes and multidisciplinary support staff.
- Strong understanding of T20
cricket, tournament planning and match strategy.
- Excellent leadership,
communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to build an
inclusive, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement.
