We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Marketing & Communications position within the Communications and Stakeholder Relations team at Cricket Victoria. This role leads an integrated team across marketing, communications, media, production and digital commerce to deliver high-impact campaigns, content and engagement initiatives. Reporting to the General Manager Communications & Stakeholder Relations, the role drives strategic media relations, public relations and crisis communications, while strengthening Cricket Victoria’s reputation and engagement with stakeholders, communities and elite cricket at state and national levels.

Key Responsibilities:
Communications & Media Relations
- Responsible for the development of Cricket Victoria’s media strategy to deliver increased media coverage, share of voice and proactive reputation management.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with media and community stakeholders to strengthen brand reputation.
- Work across Cricket Victoria to deliver an integrated narrative of success and growth.
- Support CV Executive Team and Board through crisis and reputational management situations
- Collaborate with Cricket Australia to advance Cricket Victoria’s narrative nationally.
- Partner with General Managers and W/BBL Media Managers to promote teams and manage media or stakeholder matters.
- Drive production efficiencies between CV and the W/BBL team to maximise commercial, marketing and media value.
Internal Communications
- Deliver a compelling internal narrative that highlights innovation and celebrates organisational achievements.
- Work with the Employee Experience team to support the employee engagement strategy ensuring alignment between internal and external messaging.
- Develop corporate communications – including speeches, correspondence and annual reports – that reflect Cricket Victoria’s strategy priorities.
Marketing
- Lead the creation and execution of marketing and communications strategies for key programs and business pillars (e.g., Cricket Victoria Foundation, MCEA, MCA, HiTZ Australia, San Francisco Unicorns, CV Historical Society).
- Drive campaign accountability through campaign analysis, reporting and ongoing optimisation.
- Ensure effective integration of W/BBL activity across all relevant marketing initiatives.
- Lead strategies that enhance customer acquisition and retention throughout the cricket participation lifecycle.
Digital
- Oversee digital engagement and champion emerging technologies that increase fan and participant interaction, as well as support business development.
- Drive centralised CRM outcomes through Salesforce.
- Identify cross-functional solutions to improve digital, design and budget outcomes.
Leadership
- Provide strong inclusive leadership across a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration, innovation and professional growth.
- Develop cross-functional relationships with CV Executive, CEO and Chair.
- Shape medium and long-term strategy for Marketing, Communications and Digital functions aligned to future cricket activity
🎯 About You
- Extensive industry experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience across communications, public relations, media and/or marketing, ideally within high-profile or complex environments.
- Strong media networks and influence: Well-established relationships across sport and non-sport media, with a proven ability to shape and influence media outcomes.
- Strategic communications leadership: Proven success in developing and executing media and public relations strategies within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- People leadership: Strong leadership capability with a track record of managing and developing multidisciplinary teams, including technical and creative functions.
- Integrated marketing and communications capability: Experience designing and delivering integrated marketing and communications plans that support organisational objectives.
- Exceptional stakeholder leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders, agencies and external partners; communicate and negotiate effectively at executive levels; and build collaborative, high-performing teams with a strong, aligned culture.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective CRM management and data-driven performance marketing approaches.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading organisational responses to issues and crises and managing reputational risk at an executive level.
- Financial management and commercial acumen
- Experience in driving efficiency and process outcomes
Qualifications:
- Tertiary degree in marketing, communications or a related discipline
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (or arranged on appointment)
- Valid Victorian Drivers License
