Assistant Legal Practice Manager

We are seeking an Assistant Legal Practice Manager to support the firm’s financial and operational performance, with a strong focus on accounts, billing, costs management, and reporting. This is a key role working closely with our Directors, National Practice Manager, lawyers, and support teams to ensure smooth practice operations and strong financial outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing:
– Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and trust accounting
– Manage the end‑to‑end billing cycle, including WIP review, billing, collections, and debtor management
– Support legal costing processes, including cost disclosures and compliance with relevant legislation
– Assist with preparation and monitoring of profit and loss statements, budgets, and forecasts
– Produce monthly financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators
– Analyse financial trends and provide practical insights to support decision‑making
– Maintain and improve practice management and billing systems
– Work collaboratively across offices to improve processes, efficiency, and financial performance
What You’ll Bring:
– Desired 2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or practice management (legal environment highly regarded)
– Strong understanding of billing, costs, and financial reporting principles
– High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
– Confidence using practice management and financial systems (e.g. LEAP, Collexus or similar)
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
– A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong professional integrity
– Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field are desirable. CPA or CA (or working towards) is an advantage.
