About NRL Cowboys House:

NRL Cowboys House provides supported accommodation and educational support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from remote communities in North and Far North Queensland, enabling access to quality secondary education in Townsville. Managed by the Cowboys Community Foundation, the House is a purpose-built, centrally located residence with a dedicated and passionate team.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher to join our team, supporting students in their academic and personal development. While all teaching backgrounds are welcome, experience or qualifications in music education will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver curriculum-aligned lessons to secondary students
  • Support students’ academic progress and wellbeing
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with boarding and support staff to ensure holistic care
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress
  • Participate in school and House activities, events, and excursions
  • Promote a culturally safe and inclusive environment

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching music or holding relevant music education qualifications

About You:

  • Current Queensland Teacher Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience teaching secondary students (Years 7–12)
  • Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
