Purpose of the Role
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data solutions that convert raw data into meaningful insights for organisational stakeholders.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Operations, you will work closely with business and technical teams to ensure data is reliable, well-modelled, secure, and accessible, enabling smarter decisions across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Architecture
• Design and maintain scalable data models using Kimball and Inmon methodologies
• Implement best practices in data deployment, standards, security, and governance
• Build, deploy, and maintain data integration pipelines using SSIS
• Optimise SQL Server performance and develop efficient, high-quality queries
• Support data warehouse and data lake environments
Data Analysis & Reporting
• Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify trends and insights
• Develop and support reporting solutions using Power BI (DAX) and SSRS
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Translate technical concepts into clear, functional language (and vice versa)
• Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing IT team
• Demonstrates the ability to grasp business context and operate independently
Quality, Security & Compliance
• Ensure data solutions align with internal policies, privacy guidelines, and compliance requirements
• Maintain documentation and adhere to best practice development standards
• Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
Essential
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
• Extensive experience with T-SQL and Dynamic SQL
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and data lake concepts
• Advanced skills in data profiling, analysis, and modelling
• SQL Server expertise, including performance optimisation
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with SSIS (build and deploy)
• Strong proficiency in Power BI (DAX) and SSRS
• Experience using Git for source/version control
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
• Experience with SSAS (Tabular)
• Exposure to Crystal Reports
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
Role Details
• Permanent, full-time role
• Reporting to: Executive General Manager – Operations
• Office-based x3 Days per week
• Work from homex2 days per week
• Standard hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm
