About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, based at our Headquarters in Gillman. The role is ideal for someone who is keen to build a long-term career in accounting and finance and is looking for broad, hands-on exposure in a busy operationally focused business. 

A key focus of the role is the weekly payment of staff and subcontractors, alongside broader finance operations including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and reporting. You will work closely with Finance, HR, operational teams and external trading partners, gaining strong commercial insight into how finance supports day‑to‑day operations and decision‑making of the business.

About You:  

  • You are motivated to develop your accounting career and enjoy learning through hands‑on involvement across multiple areas of the finance department    
  • Previous experience in a transactional finance role, with exposure to payroll processing
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when processing high‑volume transactions.       
  • Strong organisation and time‑management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment    
  • Confident communicator who can work proactively with operational and support teams·        
  • Strong Excel capability and experience using finance or business systems to improve and automate processes· 
  • Team‑oriented, collaborative and open to learning new systems, processes and responsibilities    
  • Bachelor of Accounting or Commerce (desirable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing weekly staff payroll and completing reconciliation and lodgement processes
  • Calculate and invoice weekly subcontractor payments based on work orders
  • Reporting and variance analysis to support decision making
  • Raise customer invoices and consignments for non‑standard service activities
  • Provide support across finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking activities
  • Support month‑end reporting through reconciliations, asset maintenance and accruals.
  • Assist with annual compliance activities including payroll submissions and audit
