About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Kitchen and Logistics Assistant to join our Chorus Kitchen team. This role will initially be offered as a 5-month contract.
The Kitchen and Delivery Assistant supports the efficient operation of the Chorus Kitchen meal service by assisting with food preparation, organising meals for delivery by volunteers and transporting stock to depots. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible and willing to adapt to tasks as required.
Key responsibilities:
- Organise and pack food for delivery drivers according to daily schedules and client list, ensuring meals are packed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain stock levels at depot locations to ensure sufficient supply is available for scheduled deliveries.
- Transport prepared meals in a refrigerated van to designated depots in accordance with established delivery schedules.
- Safely unload meals into the freezer in accordance with food safety and temperature control requirements. Ensure accurate stock rotation using first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as vegetable preparation, maintaining cleanliness of food preparation areas.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures in accordance with the organisation’s Food Safety Program and HACCP principles.
- Work collaboratively with other team members and volunteers

Skills and Qualifications:
- C Class driver’s licence with no restrictions
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance and registration
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 20 kilograms safely and repeatedly.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment preferred
- Knowledge of HACCP food safety standards and sanitation guidelines preferred
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate refrigerated transport vehicles.
- Ability to work in a freezer environment for periods of time (PPE provided).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to apply for one prior to commencing employment)
- Current First Aid Certificate with 12 months or less currency (or willing to apply)
- Must be able to work from Monday to Thursday 6am to 2pm
