Purpose of the Position
The Senior Team Leader/Group Facilitator (Social Emotional and Cultural Wellbeing) supports CQID’s strategic goals of delivering best practice, culturally safe, and innovative services aligned with progressive government reforms. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for managing and supporting a team of two full-time practitioners (Healing and Safety Officer and Healing and Accountability Officer) and overseeing the delivery of therapeutic and culturally grounded domestic and family violence services from within a Social, Emotional and Cultural Wellbeing framework.
The role will coordinate and facilitate group work programs, manage a small caseload, and ensure compliance with funding schedule milestones and reporting requirements. The Senior Team Leader will drive a culture of excellence, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based practice while fostering a safe and supportive environment for both clients and staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
Team Leadership and Practice Guidance
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the Female Healing and Safety Officer and Male Healing and Accountability Officer.
- Foster a collaborative and culturally safe team environment that promotes professional growth and best practice service delivery.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment with organisational goals and funding requirements.
- Facilitate internal study, training, and upskilling opportunities for existing staff, actively seeking out suitable learning and development programs to support ongoing practice improvement and professional growth.
Program Coordination and Group Facilitation
- Coordinate and facilitate group work programs, achieving 1,140 hours annually as outlined in the funding schedule
- Develop and implement a range of culturally appropriate delivery platforms for group work programs, ensuring they are therapeutically and culturally grounded to meet the diverse needs of men’s and women’s groups.
- Ensure group work programs are inclusive, trauma-informed, and tailored to the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families.
- Continuously evaluate and adapt group work programs to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and aligned with best practice frameworks.
Case Management
- Manage a small caseload, providing high-quality, culturally appropriate counselling and support services.
- Develop and implement individualised case plans that are trauma-informed and culturally safe, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients are prioritised.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to service delivery.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with all funding schedule milestones and reporting requirements, including quarterly IS70 Milestone Reports
- Monitor and report on service delivery patterns, trends, and issues impacting the program.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all service delivery activities, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships and referral pathways with key stakeholders, including community organisations, government agencies, and other service providers.
- • Represent CQID at the Local Level Alliance (LLA) in Hervey Bay, contributing to collaborative efforts to address community needs and improve service delivery.
- Actively participate in external forums and networks to promote CQID’s reputation as a leader in culturally safe domestic and family violence services.
Cultural Safety and Best Practice
- Ensure all services are delivered in a culturally safe and trauma-informed manner, respecting the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families.
- Promote cultural awareness and competency within the team and across the organisation.
- Develop and implement strategies to embed cultural safety into all aspects of service delivery, ensuring alignment with best practice frameworks and community expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate capability in the following areas:
Essential
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, ‘Blue Card’
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and connection to community and culture (non-Indigenous candidates will be considered if there are no suitable Indigenous candidates).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counselling, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within the domestic and family violence or human services sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of domestic and family violence best practices and frameworks.
- Proven ability to deliver culturally safe and trauma-informed services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families.
Desirable
- Experience in group facilitation and program coordination.
- Strong understanding of government funding agreements, reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
- High-level organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage a team or group of workers and competing priorities.
