The Home and Yard Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for the effective day to day operational leadership of the Home and Yard Maintenance services, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed schedules, service standards and contractual requirements.
The role provides direct line management and operational oversight of field staff, supports workforce capability and performance, monitors service delivery in real time, and responds to operational issues, incidents and client concerns as they arise.
The position plays a critical role in improving service reliability, safety oversight, productivity and workforce accountability, supporting the organisation to meet funded outputs, client expectations and service sustainability objectives. Furthermore, this role operates in accordance with the Home & Yard Maintenance Service Delivery Model and ensures services are delivered in a manner that prioritises
client safety, workforce sustainability, industrial compliance and financial integrity.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Managing day to day operational leadership of Home and Yard Maintenance field teams;
• Ensuring scheduled services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with service plans and priorities;
• Providing direct line management, supervision and performance management of team members;
• Monitor stock levels and order when required;
• Organise scheduled servicing and repairs of equipment;
• Monitoring field operations, responding to operational issues and escalating matters as required;
• Ensuring accurate and timely payroll-related inputs for Home and Yard Maintenance staff, including verification of hours worked, overtime, allowances, leave and timesheet approvals in accordance with organisational procedures;
• Ensuring a strong safety culture and compliance with WHS requirements; and
• Supporting continuous improvement of operational practices, workforce
utilisation and service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
• Associate Diploma with substantial experience, or Certificate-level qualification with specialised skills relevant to maintenance, operations or service delivery;
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience leading teams engaged in operational or high-risk work environments; and
• Demonstrated experience in supervising staff, managing performance and
supporting workforce capability.
Desirable:
• Trade qualification or demonstrated technical knowledge relevant to home or
yard maintenance services; and
• Experience working within community services, aged care or funded service
environments.
Core Competencies
• Substantial level of ability to lead and supervise operational teams to deliver services safely, efficiently and in line with service standards;
• High level of understanding of workplace health and safety obligations, with the ability to implement, monitor and reinforce safe work practices;
• High level of communication skills to engage effectively with staff, managers, clients and stakeholders;
• High level of operational judgement, with the ability to respond to real-time issues, prioritise workloads and escalate matters appropriately;
• Demonstrated ability to manage performance, provide constructive feedback and support staff development;
• Sound level of understanding of payroll-related processes, including timesheets, overtime, allowances and leave, with the ability to ensure accuracy, compliance and timely approvals; and
• Sound level of digital literacy, including the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
