About the Role:
As the Operations Manager, you will oversee the strategic and day-to-day performance of all operational functions, ensuring seamless coordination, delivery consistency and service excellence.
Sitting in a key leadership position, you will provide direction and mentorship to a diverse team of six direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, emotional intelligence, and operational excellence. You will champion systems thinking, uplift capability, and drive process maturity across the organisation.
You will also partner closely with the Major Projects team, collaborating with Project Managers, Design, Procurement, Sales and Commercial stakeholders to ensure operational milestones, safety requirements and quality standards are consistently achieved.
Some of the tasks you’ll do during your working day:
- Provide high-level technical and strategic problem-solving support, proactively addressing operational challenges and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Manage escalations, inquiries and operational issues with diplomacy and urgency, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Strengthen long-term client relationships by continuously improving service delivery standards and aligning operational activities with client needs and project objectives.
- Oversee the Service & Warranties workflow within Odoo, ensuring accurate tracking, timely responses and coordinated resolution involving relevant internal teams and external partners.
- Lead the effective allocation of labour, vehicles, equipment and materials to support operational efficiency and meet project and service delivery requirements.
- Drive national consistency in operational standards by developing and implementing scalable procedures and best-practice methodologies that support Castledex’s growth and major project commitments.
- Collaborate closely with the Procurement & Inventory Manager to optimise storage utilisation, inventory turnover and accuracy, ensuring readiness for project delivery and efficient warehouse operations.
- Lead the coordination and delivery of operational projects and improvement initiatives, ensuring milestones, budgets and quality standards are consistently met.
- Monitor and manage labour utilisation and workforce costs in line with budget parameters, operational demands and long-term planning considerations.
- Facilitate structured team meetings and briefings to monitor progress, address emerging issues and align teams to operational priorities.
- Conduct audits, inspections and operational reviews to maintain adherence to company standards, regulatory requirements and best-practice methodologies.
- Work closely with the WHS Coordinator to ensure all operational activities comply with organisational policies, WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and applicable state-based regulatory requirements.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring accurate root-cause analysis, transparent reporting and the implementation of preventative actions to strengthen safety maturity.
- Take operational ownership of safety leadership, including identifying hazards, conducting inspections, monitoring risk controls and ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Uphold a rigorous safety culture by embedding “Safety First” principles across all teams and operations.
- Manage operational risks through proactive identification, escalation and mitigation strategies aligned with organisational risk frameworks.
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years leading multi-disciplinary operational functions such as production, warehousing, logistics, installations, manufacturing or project delivery within a dynamic commercial, construction, or production environment.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-site operational teams, with a proven ability to standardise processes and uplift performance across geographically dispersed locations.
- Proven ability to lead operational teams through change, continuous improvement initiatives, and growth phases while maintaining stability of day-to-day service delivery.
- Advanced operational planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage complex workflows across warehousing, logistics, manufacturing and installation environments.
