About the role

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping participants build independence, connect socially, and pursue their career goals. You’ll be primarily servicing the Hunter and Lower Hunter areas.

You’ll need your own private vehicle and a valid driver’s licence to travel between sites.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting participants in daily routines and community engagement
  • Helping develop practical life skills and fostering friendships
  • Assisting with career planning, job training, and interview preparation
  • Providing basic guidance with resumes, interview confidence, and job readiness where appropriate
  • Building genuine relationships and empowering participants to take control of their lives

What you’ll bring

We welcome both experienced support workers and those new to the industry. Hands-on training and ongoing support will be provided.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Cert III in Community Services, Youth Work, Disability or similar
  • Experience supporting people with disability or youth (beneficial but not essential)
  • First Aid accreditation
  • Understanding of the NDIS
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Flexibility to work varied hours based on participant needs
  • Confidence using basic computer systems and ability to support participants with simple job readiness skills (e.g. resumes, interview preparation) is advantageous
  • Ability to positively engage participants, build motivation, and redirect behaviours in a supportive and respectful way is desirable
