Description

Position: Placement Visitor

Classification: Part-Time

Hours: Flexible (approx. 12 hours per fortnight)

Location: Various residential placements – Hybrid

Reports to: Key Management Personnel (KMP)

Background:

Capability Support is a provider of services to people living in the community. Capability was founded on the premise that we can do better for people living with disability, children, youth and families in the community, by providing flexible, personalised, high quality and professional supports.

Capability’s vision is to provide personalised, flexible and professional supports through the provision of More Support, Less Admin and delivering high quality, customised and easy-to access supports.

The role:

The Placement Visitor provides independent, qualitative oversight of Capability’s placements and support environments. Modelled on the principles of the ACT Official Visitor — visibility, impartiality, independence and robust reporting — this role delivers assurance through presence.

Working directly with Key Management Personnel, you will strengthen service quality, support safety and rights, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining trusted, respectful and culturally safe relationships with clients, their networks and our staff.

This is an ideal role for someone with strong judgement, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a values-driven commitment to safeguarding and quality.

The benefits:

Other than playing a meaningful, independent role in improving quality of services for Children, Young People and adults, this role also offers:

  • Market leading pay-rates
  • Complete flexibility and autonomy within your role
  • The opportunity to work closely with a highly skilled Key Management Personnel and Advisory Panel
  • Ongoing certified training and development
  • Employee Assistance Program

The responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine, responsive and unannounced visits across placements.
  • Observe environments, routines, therapeutic and cultural safety practices.
  • Test compliance-in-practice against Capability’s policies, frameworks, standards and expectations.
  • Engage in confidential conversations with clients, their networks and frontline staff.
  • Identify systemic risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Receive and report concerns raised by clients, staff or support networks directly to KMP.
  • Produce concise visit notes within 48 hours and structured outcome reports within 5 business days.
  • Maintain an independent Issues & Actions Register and verify progress and closure.
  • Provide pragmatic advice for issue resolution and escalate significant risks promptly.
  • Participate in quarterly (minimum) meetings with KMP and contribute to audits, policy, training, and practice development.
  • Operate with functional independence and uphold an open‑door approach to concerns.

The requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative oversight, assurance, regulation or similar within care, disability, justice, health, housing or human services.
  • Strong analytical and communication capability — able to turn observations into defensible findings and practical actions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of legislation, standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., CYP Act).
  • Current (or ability to obtain):
  1. Working with Vulnerable People registration
  2. CYF clearance
  3. Police Check
  4. Driver’s licence
