cape group (cape) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee providing services to people with a disability and is a Registered NDIS Provider.

Nadrasca joined with Brite in April 2025 to form cape group, a newly formed brand resulting from the merger of the two NDIS registered providers with a combined 120 years in operation across the eastern and northern suburbs.

Together, we provide a range of services for people with disability, including home and living supports, social and community participation activities, youth employment assistance, supported employment, and NDIS support coordination.

The Position

The House Supervisor reports directly to the Senior Manager, Community Living and is responsible for the overall supervision and management of support workers at the houses within cape’s Accommodation Services, to provide for a quality service for residents.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality, Safety & Person‑Centred Support

  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred supports aligned with Active Support, Positive Behaviour Support, and organisational policies.
  • Ensure staff understand and consistently implement resident support goals and plans, with regular monitoring and reviews.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with residents, families, and support networks to create an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Oversee residents’ health, wellbeing, and access to healthcare, community participation, and active lifestyles.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date health and support documentation for all residents.
  • Ensure compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements, including incident reporting and restrictive practice processes.
  • Maintain high standards of household cleanliness, safety, comfort, and food safety.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and assist with operational audits.

 

2. Operations

  • Oversee rosters of care to ensure supports align with resident needs and funding.
  • Coordinate resident documentation, including care plans, reviews, and NDIS Plan Review preparation.
  • Manage household maintenance, participant funds, and financial records in line with policies and budgets.
  • Prepare and submit resident financial statements to families or nominees.
  • Maintain accurate service delivery, safety, and financial records and provide reports as required.
  • Participate in rostered after‑hours Practice Support duties.

 

3. Staff Management

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the house, addressing resident, staff, and operational issues effectively.
  • Recruit, orient, and supervise support workers, providing regular feedback, supervision, and performance appraisals.
  • Support staff capability development through mentoring, coaching, and role modelling.
  • Identify training and development needs and liaise with senior management as required.
  • Prepare staff rosters aligned with participant support requirements and funding.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Senior Manager, Community Living, as appropriate.

  

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Advanced Diploma Community Sector Management or Bachelor of Applied Science (Disability) or Certificate IV Disability and equivalent sector experience is required
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively support people with disability in daily living and personal care skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting people living with dementia is required.
  • Ability to undertake and oversee a range of household duties, including meal preparation and household cleaning to a high standard.
  • Experience leading a team and supervising the work of others.
  • Must be able to work shifts that may involve weekends, morning and evening work, and sleepovers.
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills, including competency with client databases and use of the Microsoft Office Suite, email, web browsing and video conferencing platforms.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

  • Sound financial management skills in relation to the required tasks.

  • A positive attitude to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise time to ensure achievement of required outcomes.
  • Ability to exercise sensitivity and maintain strict confidentiality, when required.
