Description

Injury Management Coordinator

Brunel is looking for a part-time Injury Management Coordinator to join their team. This role would suit someone with experience in workplace injury management, return-to-work coordination, or a related field, supporting employees through the recovery and rehabilitation process.

Primary Purpose:

  • To promote the vision of safety, health, productivity and wellbeing of workers as the key priorities for Brunel. 
  • To develop and provide safe, timely, efficient, and responsive return to work co-ordination programs for injured Workers within an established injury management framework. 
  • To maintain efficient workers’ compensation claims management to ensure that the actual and potential costs to Brunel are minimised. 
  • To monitor and report on claim trends and safety incidents and develop strategies that address injury management. 
  • To assist with the review process for Pre-Employment Medicals and assist in the provision of training programs for same. 
  • To assist in safety and quality improvement projects and the continual improvement of Brunel’s performance and processes. 

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the activities associated with the successful return to work of injured workers are coordinated and implemented to minimise absence from work, maintaining efficient workers’ compensation claims management to ensure that the actual and potential costs to Brunel are minimised. 
  • Manage relationships with internal and external Stakeholders whilst exercising a high degree of judgement and discretion 
  • Conduct regular meetings with injured workers, their supervisor, the client and health professionals, to review the progress on the return to work (RTW) plan and the progress towards a full return to pre-injury work. 
  • Provide advice to clients, managers, supervisors and staff regarding injury management practices, issues and trends. 
  • To facilitate discussions with clients/managers to identify alternative duties available to support and encourage effective organisational return to work programs. 
  • Provide accurate and timely information to the Authorised Insurer. 
  • Conduct regular claims reviews including with third-party providers to ensure the agreed claims and injury management strategies are implemented  
  • Manage all individual claims injury management files ensuring confidentiality at all times  
  • Implement and deliver health and injury management initiatives aligned to Brunel’s business plan and objectives 
  • Ensure that workers are paid compensation promptly by working with insurers and payroll and ensuring that reimbursements are submitted and funds received to balance accounts. 
  • Maintaining current knowledge of WHS & Injury Management legislation, policies and procedures for effective management of injury cases 
  • Reviewing Pre-Employment Medicals and Medical management Plans to ensure that workers meet the minimum requirements for their roles without undue risk to their safety or the safety of others.   

Qualifications:

  • A recognised qualification in allied health or injury management. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in injury management or allied health. 
  • Ability to translate medical terminology to layman speak in order to provide pragmatic advice on risk, exposure for workers compensation, personal injury or illness, and fitness for work matters. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, understand and apply relevant workers compensation legislation. 
  • Proficiency in the development and implementation of office systems including administrative, data storage, statistical and electronic communication. 
  • Demonstrated high level of written and interpersonal skills including good communication skills with the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues where conflict might be present. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work with minimal supervision. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work areas.
