Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organization where you can support young people in our community? Are you an experienced Residential Youth Worker seeking a new role? Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their goals?

This casual Youth Worker [24/7 Relief] position supports our mission by providing young people with safe and appropriate accommodation, planned support, tenancy and living skills, advocacy, and information to assist young people to make informed choices about their lives. This position provides coverage for a range of housing models including supported accommodation for young people aged 16-18.

Relief Youth Worker shifts are advertised in advance or on short notice on an as-needed basis so hours cannot be guaranteed. Shifts are assigned based on staff availability and the program’s operational requirements.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • A passion for youth residential care, and an interest in working across a variety of Youth Housing Models (ages 12-25), fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working holistically with vulnerable young people, using brief solution focused crisis interventions and ongoing case managed support.
  • Experience building trusting working relationships with marginalized young people, and the ability to facilitate individual and group activities providing positive engagement with young people.
  • Experience using client management systems, case file notations and Microsoft products.
  • Strong communication skills, including oral and written skills, writing report and case files, collaborating with community services, and the ability to liaise effectively with young people and advocate on their behalf.
  • Are able and willing to work overnight (sleepover) shifts.
  • Are able and willing to work a mix of weekdays and weekends. 

Due to the nature of our work, there are a few essential requirements. You will need to have, or be able to obtain prior to starting:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
