    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic part time Senior Accountant to join our team. The position will see you working closely with the Senior Accountant Manager and the team to ensure the company’s key performance indicators are exceeded, and all financial, operational systems, communication, information flow and business processes are adhered to ensure a seamless operation of the business.

    The successful Senior Accountant will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be results-driven and can identify solutions to challenges.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with tax compliance, accounting, and financial reporting standards.
    • Performing tax planning and providing valuable advice to clients including High Net Wealth Individuals, Family Groups, Trusts, SMSF’s, Partnerships and SME’s.
    • Reviewing completed tax returns and identifying non-compliance issues.
    • Review financial statements, offer expert advice, and assist with business planning, budgeting and forecasting.
    • Assisting with quarterly and annual tax compliance matters.
    • Directly liaising with clients, the ATO, external auditors, and financial advisors.
    • Exposures to Div7a, FBT, Crypto Tax, CGT, BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, Company tax.
    • Lead and manage the outsourced team of accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring technical work is performed to a high standard.
    • Manage compliance, consulting, and advisory work for a valued client base, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Establish and oversee client service agreements and ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant funding arrangements and key performance indicators.
    • Prepare and present high level senior management / Board reporting.
    • Be a support to the other Senior Accountants, when required.
    • Managing and overseeing the SMSF compliance services for the practice.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, reporting processes and structures.

    Additional tasks may be required:

    • Assist, manage and become the driver for implementation of new systems and processes during acquisition of new businesses by BMP Wealth.
    • Assisting other business units with setting up entity structures and ensuring legal documentation is maintained and updated.
    • Assisting with payroll queries and ensuring payroll systems are correctly maintained.
    • Assisting with any ATO correspondence regarding our client’s tax affairs and corresponding to ATO when required.
    • Ensuring our client’s and internal corporate registers are adequately maintained and updated with ASIC when required.
    • Reviewing accountants’ jobflow, WIP and productivity.
    • Provide regular performance reports and financial statements for both external reporting and internal management, preparation for Board Meetings.
    • Ensures reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis on all accounts.
    • Assists in posting and ensures the proper classification and recording of the group’s transactions.
    • Actively manages accounts receivables in order to reduce late payments and bad debts.

    Essential skills and qualifications:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
    • 3-5 years Public Practice experience
    • CPA or CA qualified
    • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite of products, SuiteFiles and Xero accounting software
    • The ability to work within and manage a team
    • A continued desire to challenge yourself and succeed
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with great organisational and problem-solving abilities
    • Outstanding time management
    • Exceptional attention to detail

    This role will can be based in our Narrabeen or Cessnock office however travel between each office will be require so your own vehicle is needed. If you believe you meet the above criteria and the role appeals to you we’d love to hear from you.
