About the role

Biosis Australia is growing, and we’d love you to be part of it!

We are seeking a Senior Heritage Consultant to join our Port Melbourne team, where you will apply your expertise to a diverse range of projects across both Aboriginal and historical archaeology. You will report to the Team Leader – Heritage (Vic) and will be a technical expert with demonstrated experience in delivering Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) or historical heritage assessments. You will play an active role in project work through participation in project teams, project management, fieldwork, and client liaison. Independence is encouraged through actively seeking mentoring and advice. Administrative duties include those incorporated as part of project work as well as additional duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop an understanding of site patterning, land and site formation processes on the locations and survival of artefacts for both Aboriginal and historical sites.

• Be a key contributor to the preparation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), heritage impacts statements and due diligence assessments.

• Lead and contribute to fieldwork projects across both Aboriginal and historical archaeological projects.

• Demonstrated experience in communication and consultation with relevant authorities, communities, clients, landowners, and the public, in relation to own projects.

• Demonstrated experience in report writing and understand the different types of reports required.

• Deliver projects on time, within budget and meeting the client’s requirements. Develop an understanding of and implementing Biosis’ high standards.

• Understand the current regulatory requirements, their impact on our work and be able to explain to existing clients.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A tertiary degree in a relevant cultural heritage practice (archaeology, or cultural heritage management).

• Be recognised as a Heritage Advisor and qualified to supervise Complex Assessment in accordance with the Minister’s Guidelines (This is an essential requirement for the

position).

• 3+ years of experience working in consulting archaeology.

• You must have full working rights in Australia to be considered for this role.

• Demonstrated experience preparing technical reporting, including Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs).

• Exceptional communication skills with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ability to travel for projects across Victoria, when required.

• Valid Australian driver’s licence.
