The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially driven Category Manager to join our Commercial team based at our Head Office in Mascot, NSW. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, this role is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that optimise product range, supplier performance, pricing and profitability while meeting customer and market demand.

This is a high-impact role with national scope, focused on delivering revenue growth, margin expansion and portfolio optimisation through data-led decision making and strategic supplier partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned to business objectives and margin targets
  • Manage product lifecycle including range rationalisation and new product introduction
  • Own pricing strategy, rebate frameworks and promotional planning
  • Deliver category revenue growth, gross margin and inventory performance
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiations and performance management
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer insights
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance
  • Monitor KPIs including sales performance, stock turns, rebates and forecast accuracy
  • Identify and manage commercial and supply risks

About You

You will bring:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in category, product or commercial management
  • Strong negotiation capability and supplier management experience
  • High analytical capability with confidence working across large datasets
  • Proven ability to drive pricing, margin and portfolio outcomes
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field
  • Experience within building materials, manufacturing, wholesale or trade-focused categories is highly regarded.
