The Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Development Manager – Cladding in our Queensland to lead and grow Big River Group’s cladding category across the Queensland market.
This is a strategic and commercially focused role responsible for accelerating category growth, expanding customer engagement, and strengthening Big River’s market position across cladding solutions, with a particular focus on AAC and fibre cement cladding systems.
Working closely with customers, internal stakeholders and supply partners, this role will play a key part in identifying new business opportunities, developing innovative product solutions, and bringing new cladding products to market. You will also provide leadership to allocated Sales Representatives and Account Managers, helping drive capability, accountability and performance across the category.
Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this role is ideal for a commercially astute sales leader who thrives on building strong partnerships, driving innovation and delivering sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead the growth and development of Big River Group’s cladding category across the Queensland market
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, margin and growth objectives
- Identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities across residential, commercial and infrastructure segments
- Grow existing accounts through strategic relationship management, cross-selling and upselling opportunities
- Build and maintain a strong project and sales pipeline through market engagement and industry networks
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships with key supply partners to support product growth, innovation and market activation
- Identify and evaluate new cladding products and solutions that respond to customer and market needs
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, specification movements and regulatory developments
- Support bids, tenders and commercial proposals to ensure they are competitive and aligned with company strategy
- Coach and support allocated sales team members to strengthen performance, product knowledge and commercial capability
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, budgets and sales reporting
- Uphold Big River Group’s safety, compliance and governance standards in all business development activities
About You
You will bring:
- Proven experience in senior sales, business development or category growth roles
- Demonstrated success delivering against revenue, margin and growth targets
- Strong experience within building materials, cladding, construction or a related industry
- Well-developed commercial acumen, including forecasting, pipeline management and strategic planning
- Strong supplier, stakeholder and customer relationship management capability
- Confidence translating technical product information into clear commercial value propositions
- Excellent negotiation, communication and influencing skills
- A strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, motivate and drive performance
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and commercial reporting tools
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Construction or a related discipline will be highly regarded
