Betashares is seeking an energetic, self-motivated senior legal counsel with strong funds experience to join the team and take their career to the next level. This role will report to the Deputy General Counsel and is a great opportunity to apply previous experience whilst expanding your skillset in an innovative and growing business. You will work closely with other business functions and play an important part in a dynamic organisation. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Product development and maintenance.
  • Preparation and review of offer documents.
  • Liaison with key regulators, such as the ASX and ASIC.
  • Negotiating agreements with a range of service providers and counterparties.
  • Reviewing marketing material and fund collateral.
  • Provide legal advice to, and partnering with, various business areas and management.
  • Engagement and liaison with external legal advisers.
  • Keeping up to date with, and advising the business in relation to, regulatory developments.
  • Supporting various business initiatives and projects.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a legal role with funds management.
  • Strong knowledge of Chapters 5C and 7 of the Corporations Act.
  • Exposure to ASX Operating Rules, particularly AQUA products, would be advantageous.
  • Must hold a current practicing certificate as a legal practitioner.
  • Ability to operate independently and provide legal services with a commercial approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, fostering strong connections with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
