About the Role:
This is a permanent full-time position (38 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based onsite within the BEST Employment footprint.
The Senior Human Resources Advisor is responsible for ensuring effective and compliant human resource operations whilst leading the Human Resources Advisor. With a focus on operational efficiency, the Senior Human Resources Advisor will provide comprehensive employee support, manage record-keeping systems, support recruitment activities, and handle general human resource functions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and reporting requirements. The Senior Human Resources Advisor will ensure the provision of high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Result Area 1: Leadership & People Management
Objectives:
• Drive high performance to meet all targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by implementing effective strategies and practices.
• Lead, manage and mentor direct reporting staff, providing clear and consistent communication of expectations, feedback, and guidance.
• Successful coordination, implementation, and delivery of staff training to direct reports to enhance skills and capabilities.
• Exemplify organisational values and purpose as a role model, inspiring others to align their actions to achieve BEST’s vision.
• Create and maintain a positive culture in which all team members are empowered to achieve high performance.
• Establish leadership practices that encourage positive engagement and provide opportunity for constructive input, action, and ownership of activities within the area.
• Provide support and guidance on best practices within the team, contributing to continuous improvement and excellence.
• Identify and encourage opportunities for professional development for direct reporting staff.
• Effectively manage a dynamic team by overseeing all aspects of staff management, including recruitment, performance management, conflict resolution and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Key Result Area 2: HR Operations Management
Objectives:
• Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, performance management, and HRIS administration, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contractual arrangements, training/qualifications, traineeships, payroll, and leave, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organisation.
• Develop and present reports for internal communications, supporting data driven decision-making.
• Conduct regular reviews of HR processes to identify areas for improvement and support the implementation of solutions.
Key Result Area 3: Stakeholder Engagement & Recruitment
Objectives:
• Foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders, to understand their needs and address concerns effectively.
• Provide expert guidance and support on HR policies, awards and payrates, EAP, termination, disciplinary processes, and recruitment, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
• Support employee engagement initiatives, such as surveys, feedback sessions, and recognition programs, to promote a positive work culture.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Manage workers’ compensation claims, ensuring adherence to legal obligations and providing support to effected employees.
• Drive organisational HR functions, including internal communications, correspondence development, cultural initiatives, and employee development activities.
Key Result Area 4: HR Excellence & Compliance
Objectives:
• Stay updated on relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure HR practices are legally compliant and aligned with best practices.
• Coach managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor and enhance staff induction processes and probationary period reviews, refining strategies for improved employee satisfaction.
• Ensure HR processes are compliant and implement amendments to HR systems when required.
• Support HR projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing organisational effectiveness, such as diversity and inclusion programs or employee wellness initiatives.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will be a self-motivated and resilient leader with:
• Proven experience in HR operations management, including employee relations, performance management, and HRIS administration.
• A minimum of five years at the HR Advisor level within the generalist HR space.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks as needed, and maintain a high attention to detail.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, both in person and remotely.
• Proficient in recruitment and selection techniques, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates.
• Problem-solving skills to address complex HR issues and find effective solutions.
• Relevant qualifications in Business Management or Human Resources and/or demonstrated relevant experience.
• Current Driver’s License (Class C or above).
• Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
