About this opportunity
This is a hands‑on role responsible for the accuracy, compliance and overall quality of payroll across our multi‑entity business. You’ll be the key point of expertise for payroll interpretation, problem‑solving and system knowledge.
You’ll own Employment Hero payroll end‑to‑end, while also providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure consistency and compliance across all payroll processes. If you enjoy getting the details right, improving how things work and being the go‑to person for payroll expertise, this role will suit you well.
Your work will include:
- Taking ownership of the payroll function across all Benmax entities
- Managing Employment Hero payroll including configuration, pay runs, reporting and troubleshooting
- Providing technical oversight and support for payroll processed in Sage
- Interpreting awards and enterprise agreements and applying them accurately
- Ensuring payroll is compliant with legislation, awards, agreements and internal policies
- Strengthening payroll processes, controls and documentation
- Managing statutory obligations such as PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, long service leave and year end requirements
- Preparing payroll reporting packs to support planning and decision making
- Keeping across legislative and award changes and implementing updates
- Offering practical payroll advice to managers and employees
- Supporting audits, reviews and remediation work
- Contributing to system improvements and enhancement projects
- Maintaining accurate and confidential payroll and personnel records
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Payroll, Accounting, Business or a related field
- End to end payroll experience in a multi entity environment
- Strong understanding of modern awards and enterprise agreements and how to apply them in payroll
- Experience with payroll systems, with Employment Hero and Sage experience highly regarded
- AHRI membership (desirable)
- Clear, confident communication skills
- A solid grasp of Australian payroll legislation
- A sharp eye for detail and the ability to spot issues early
- Strong analytical skills and a methodical, organised approach
- The ability to juggle competing priorities without compromising accuracy
- A mindset focused on improvement, quality and doing things the right way
