Description

Turn your practical experience into a training career.

Ben Furney Flour Mills is seeking a hands-on Training & Capability Coordinator to support and develop our production teams in Dubbo. This role would suit someone who enjoys helping others learn, explaining things clearly, and has a practical understanding of how work gets done safely and consistently. You may come from production, manufacturing, food processing, warehousing, logistics, the trades, machinery operations, agriculture, or another hands-on environment where training, safety, and procedures matter. You do not need to already hold a formal training qualification. If you have the right attitude, communication style, and practical experience, we will support you in completing the required training qualification.

About the role

This is not a classroom-only role or a corporate training position. You will be working with people on the floor, helping them build confidence, capability and consistency in their work. In this role, you will:

  • Train new employees in practical, real-time work tasks
  • Support operators and supervisors with day-to-day training needs
  • Help ensure employees are genuinely competent, not just “shown once”
  • Deliver or support internal safety and HACCP training
  • Assist with competency assessments across production areas
  • Review, simplify and update SOPs so they are clear and useful
  • Maintain accurate training and competency records
  • Identify training gaps and support continuous improvement
  • Help build stronger, safer and more consistent ways of working

About you

You may already be an operator, team member, leading hand, supervisor, tradesperson, warehouse team member, safety-focused employee or someone who naturally helps others learn on the job. You will be a good fit if you have:

  • Practical experience in a hands-on work environment
  • Confidence training, coaching, or supporting others
  • Good communication skills and patience
  • A strong focus on safety, quality and doing things properly
  • The ability to follow and improve procedures
  • Good attention to detail with records and documentation
  • A willingness to complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • An interest in building a career pathway in training, capability or supervision

Experience in manufacturing, food production, grain, milling or warehousing would be highly regarded, but it is not essential if you bring the right practical background and attitude.

Why this role is worth considering

This is a genuine opportunity to step into a new career pathway while staying connected to hands-on work. You will have the chance to:

  • Earn $70,000 – $85,000 + supported training qualification
  • Move into a training-focused role without needing qualifications upfront
  • Build your skills with business-supported development
  • Work across different areas of the operation
  • Help improve how people are trained and supported
  • Make a real impact on safety, quality and team confidence
  • Join an established Dubbo business with a strong local presence

What success looks like

You will be helping to make sure:

  • New starters are trained properly and feel confident faster
  • SOPs are clear, current and actually used
  • Training is consistent across teams
  • Records are accurate and audit-ready
  • People are safer, more capable and better supported in their roles
