Position Summary

The Manager FCYC position is responsible for ensuring that Belong BM Children and Family Support (CAFS) services, Neighbourhood Centres / Community Hubs, Youth Services, Children’s Services and NDIS Plan Management meet goals, service standards and compliance with regulatory and other requirements.

The primary objective is to engage Blue Mountains residents in activities and connections that will promote community and individual resilience. The position will engage in primary research in the Blue Mountains to ascertain community wants and aspirations in order to develop opportunities and programs to meet resident’s expressed needs.

The FCYC Manager is a senior leader within Belong BM and a member of the Operations Management Committee, reporting directly to the Management Committee / Board of Belong BM.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Supervise and support staff teams in the FCYC operational unit, provide leadership, professional development and training opportunities to maintain a positive workplace culture.

• Manage funding contracts and maintain strong relationships with funding organisations.

• Ensure services are delivered within budget, comply with standards, legislation and regulations, with all required project and financial reporting delivered in a timely and professional manner.

• Undertake primary research to understand community needs and aspirations in order to develop and deliver programs and activities that meet community expectations and are within Belong BM financial and human resources.

• Identify and manage risks across the FCYC unit and the organisation in collaboration with other Operations Management Committee members. Participate in the development and delivery of WHS policies and programs to maintain a safe work environment to promote staff safety and wellbeing.

• Actively participate in Operations Management Committee meetings to effectively manage Belong BM services, identify and develop recommendations for improvements or additional services and provide regular and comprehensive operational reports to the Management Committee / Board.

• Participate in appropriate community forums in order to promote Belong BM services, develop local partnerships and relationships, and to understand the overall community development and service provision environment across the Blue Mountains LGA.

Key Performance Indicators

• Funding contract requirements and targets are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

• All required financial and progress reports are completed and lodged on time.

• Staff are strongly supported and supervised, well trained and confident in their roles.

• Positive relationships with funding body representatives, local partners and relevant organisations are developed and maintained.

• Participation in the Operations Management Committee is positive, with active engagement in organisational planning, development and reporting.

• Community research and surveys are completed and contribute to program development.

• Belong BM Neighbourhood Centres / Community Hubs are seen as welcoming and non-discriminatory places providing activities that are relevant, engaging and encourage connection and belonging.
