Description

The Royal Albert is a 73-room hotel in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, and it’s the newest addition to the Belmo Group portfolio. We run hotels a little differently – we think you can have performance and personality, and we build teams that prove it. We’re now looking for a hands-on full-time Maintenance Officer, working Monday to Friday, to revitalise and enhance the building, rooms, and guest experience.

About the role

Reporting to the Cluster General Manager, you’ll own the day-to-day upkeep of the property from reactive repairs and guest-room defects through to preventative maintenance and plant-room checks. No two days look the same. One minute you’re getting a room back online for Front Office, the next you’re coordinating a contractor or knocking over a punch-list of minor repairs. It’s a varied, autonomous role in a fast-paced hotel environment where your work is felt by every guest who walks through the door.

What you’ll do

  • Complete reactive maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
  • Carry out guest-room defect checks and make sure every room is fully functional before release
  • Handle minor repairs across plumbing, electrical (non-licensed), carpentry, painting, patching, fixtures, appliances, lighting, and furniture
  • Run preventative maintenance routines
  • Maintain plant rooms, amenities, lifts, fire stairs, and outdoor areas
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, including access and quality checks
  • Log and process all works in our maintenance system
  • Maximise productivity and profitability of the maintenance department
  • Work to WHS standards, including SWMS and lock-out/tag-out procedures

What you’ll bring

  • Solid hands-on maintenance or handyperson experience, ideally in hotels, hospitality, strata, or multi-residential settings
  • A broad minor-trades skill set across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs (within non-licensed limits)
  • A good working knowledge of WHS, safe work procedures, and risk awareness
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise, and stay calm under pressure
  • Clear communication and a guest-friendly, approachable manner
  • Reliability, strong attention to detail, and genuine pride in keeping a property at its best

What We Offer

  • Career Development — We invest in our people through structured onboarding, leadership development, and ongoing learning opportunities designed to support career progression across our hotel, residential, and corporate portfolios.
  • Autonomy & Trust — Belmo empowers our people to take ownership of their work, with clear governance, support, and direct access to leadership.
