Description

Build the estimating system behind one of Queensland’s fastest-growing builders

Estimating is where assumptions are removed, buildability is proven and margin is protected before a job ever reaches site.

At AVIA, this role is bigger than producing a number. It’s about owning and improving the system that ensures every home is estimated consistently, accurately and construction ready.

We’re looking for a Production Estimator who genuinely understands the mechanics behind Databuild. Someone who knows how recipes, macros, trade structures and cost logic work together to drive reliable outputs.

Why you’ll love working at AVIA

  • A growing, people‑first builder with a clear product and quality vision
  • A systems-first environment where process quality drives performance
  • Direct impact on margin, buildability and construction outcomes
  • Strong alignment between estimating, procurement and site teams
  • The opportunity to shape a scalable production estimating engine

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own the trade-side Databuild engine including recipes, macros, regional pricing and order profiles
  • Build and evolve the Method of Measure library, turning product spec into buildable logic
  • Keep recipes and macros current across the Volos base and all upgrade overlays
  • Drive the estimate-to-actual variance loop, feeding insights back into system logic
  • Ensure Databuild is always current with zero stale pricing
  • Communicate all trade price changes clearly across stakeholders
  • Support BOQs, take-offs and value engineering to strengthen build-ready outputs

What you bring

You might already be an experienced production estimator. Or you could be earlier in your career with exceptional Databuild capability and a genuine passion for building systems properly. What matters most is your depth of understanding and your ability to strengthen the engine behind the build process.

  • Experience in residential estimating, ideally in a production environment
  • Strong hands-on Databuild capability, especially recipes, macros and trade-side configuration
  • Strong grasp of construction logic, sequencing and cost drivers
  • Experience building systems and cost libraries, not just producing estimates
  • High standards for accuracy, clarity and commercially sound outcomes

This role may not be for you if you

  • Prefer one‑off solutions instead of building repeatable systems
  • Rely on memory over documented processes and standards
  • Default to speed over accuracy and completeness
  • See estimating as a task, not a critical part of the production system
  • Focus on inputs rather than measurable outcomes
