Manager, Stakeholder Engagement-First Nations
- Salary from $150,605.00 p.a (commensurate with skills and experience) plus superannuation

Please note that this is an identified position. AERO invites Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates to apply for the role of Manager, Stakeholder Engagement – First Nations. The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Primary Purpose:
The role involves the creation and management of strong, impactful relationships with internal and external stakeholders in First Nations education and is responsible for the implementation and
management of the First Nations Expert Reference Group and Project Advisory Group.
Accountabilities:
- Manage the implementation and management of the First Nations Expert Reference Group, including developing administration processes, project planning, informing communications plans and engagement mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders.
- Form and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to maximise collaborative opportunities that align with AEROs commitments in the First Nations Charter.
- Prepare advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders that conveys complex concepts and information on education topics in an appropriate format and manner.
- Provide advice and support to various AERO teams in project scoping meetings, through review of project documents and working group membership.
- Provide First Nations policy advice on a wide variety of issues in education, including early childhood, schools, child and student outcomes, and evidence use in practice.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximise the influence of AERO’s publications and resources on service, system and sector programs and policies.
- Provide support to the Research Governance and Ethics Team in their work incorporating principles of Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Indigenous Governance into AERO frameworks and practice guides.
- Lead the performance and professional development of team members, building a highly productive and collaborative team.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential requirements
- Postgraduate qualifications in education, public policy, social sciences or another relevant discipline.
Key knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures including an understanding of the matters that impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including knowledge of the Australian education sector, including key stakeholders, policies and frameworks.
- Experience and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the ability to effectively maintain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Experience leading teams to deliver complex, high-quality advice and products under tight timelines and competing priorities.
Skills
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to understand complex agendas and positions and translate information appropriately.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate technical and complex information concisely for diverse internal and external audiences.
