About the role

As we continue to expand, we are on the hunt for an Estimator that is experienced in demolition and environmental remediation to join our MW Environ team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of detailed cost estimates using first-principles methodologies, including labour, plant, materials and production outputs
  • Quantity take-offs across demolition, bulk and detailed earthworks, civil works, remediation and associated infrastructure
  • Development of Bills of Quantities (BoQs), pricing schedules and estimate summaries aligned to tender requirements
  • Review and interpretation of drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and project documentation to inform methodology and pricing
  • Build and structure estimates within Expert Estimation (or equivalent) including direct costs, preliminaries, indirects and margin
  • Identification and assessment of risks and opportunities (R&O) including scope gaps, design discrepancies, access constraints, staging and constructability
  • Preparation of assumptions, exclusions and commercial qualifications for tender submissions
  • Management of subcontractor and supplier RFQs, including scope alignment, pricing normalisation and gap analysis
  • Liaison with Project Managers, Engineers, and Delivery Teams to validate methodology, programme and construction approach
  • Contribute to tender strategy, value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Maintain estimate accuracy, version control, and auditability throughout the tender lifecycle

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in civil and/or demolition estimating within a contractor environment
  • Strong capability in first-principles estimating and rate build-ups
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate into practical construction methodology
  • Experience working with estimating software (Expert Estimation or similar highly regarded)
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage risk and opportunity
  • High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to estimating
  • Confident communicator, capable of engaging with both technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Relevant tertiary or trade qualifications in Engineering, Construction, or similar (preferred)
