The Archdiocese of Hobart is the expression of the Catholic Church in Tasmania which includes the Catholic Church parishes throughout the state. The Diocesan Centre provides service support
to the parishes and to other pastoral, welfare, community service and treasury functions of the Archdiocese of Hobart.
We are currently seeking a warm, capable and professional Administration Assistant to
be the welcoming first point of contact for our office and to provide high-quality administrative support.

About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Professional Standards, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day
functioning of the Church office by:
- Providing front‑of‑house reception, including welcoming visitors and handling telephone enquiries
- Managing general administrative tasks such as data entry, document preparation, filing, mail handling and database maintenance
- Supporting the preparation of correspondence and reports
- Liaising professionally with internal staff, parishes, Archdiocesan agencies and external service providers
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with care
You will be a trusted, reliable presence in the office and an important contributor to a respectful, orderly and supportive work environment.
About You
You will bring:
- Previous experience in an administration role, including data entry
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and use sound judgment
- Clear and confident communication skills, and the ability to engage respectfully with a diverse range of people
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- A commitment to the mission, values and identity of the Catholic Church
- A discreet, professional approach and respect for confidentiality
A Certificate III or higher in Business Administration is desirable but not essential.
Safeguarding & Compliance
The successful applicant must be willing and able to obtain and maintain:
- A Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania)
- A National Police Criminal History Check satisfactory to the Archdiocese
