Apex is entering an exciting phase of growth, and to support this, we are establishing a new General Manager role in our South Australia business. This position is focused on strengthening our leadership framework, providing added support and strategic direction to our Operations Managers while driving our operations to the next level.

 

About the Role

As General Manager – Operations, you will oversee the performance and efficiency of our manufacturing, distribution, and processing departments. You’ll work closely with our Operations Managers and Logistics teams, providing strategic direction, guidance, and hands-on support where needed.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on improving systems, driving performance, and leading from the front.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimise operations across manufacturing, processing, and distribution
  • Lead, mentor, and support Operations Managers and Logistics teams
  • Implement and refine operational procedures to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Drive a strong safety-first culture across all sites
  • Identify opportunities for business growth and operational improvement
  • Monitor KPIs and performance metrics, ensuring targets are met or exceeded
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align operations with business strategy

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role (General Manager, Operations Manager or similar)
  • Strong background in manufacturing or logistics, including practical on-the-floor experience; we believe the best leaders understand the work, the people and the challenges firsthand
  • Demonstrated success in implementing systems, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • A genuine commitment to workplace safety and compliance
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to contribute to business growth
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a hands-on approach
