The Role:

The Head of Central Operations is responsible for designing, building and continuously improving the operational infrastructure that enables the Anytime Fitness franchise network to scale with consistency, efficiency and strong unit‑level performance. The role owns the systems, processes, platforms, playbooks and programs required to enable franchisees and the Franchise Performance team to execute effectively across every club. Working closely with UK Central Operations and internal stakeholders, the role ensures scalable solutions are embedded, operational friction is removed, and performance can be delivered consistently across the network.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, own and continuously improve the end‑to‑end operating model for the franchise network to enable scalable, consistent performance.
  • Standardise and maintain all core operational systems, processes, SOPs and playbooks to reduce complexity and friction in day‑to‑day operations.
  • Partner closely with the Franchise Performance team to identify operational friction, diagnose root causes and deliver scalable, practical solutions executable in clubs.
  • Embed operational brand standards across the network by integrating them into systems, tools, training and operating frameworks to reduce variability.
  • Own and lead the Club Refresh Program, ensuring delivery on time, to standard, with clear commercial outcomes and adherence to the agreed design manual.
  • Own the network‑wide and Support Office technology ecosystem, ensuring systems are integrated, scalable, adopted and support the full member lifecycle.
  • Lead major operational projects and network‑wide initiatives, ensuring clear ownership, structured rollout, stakeholder alignment and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Business Development, Franchise Performance and UK Central Operations to deliver seamless, efficient and scalable operations while driving a culture of simplicity, accountability and continuous improvement.

Experience and About You:

You are a senior operational leader with experience across franchise, central operations or multi‑site environments, with a passion for building systems and ways of working that enable consistent execution at scale. You bring a practical, outcomes‑focused mindset and understand how effective operational design drives efficiency, performance and profitability. Comfortable working across functions, you build alignment early and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver meaningful, measurable results.

Technical Ability

  • Significant experience in franchise operations, central operations, logistics or multi‑site environments.
  • Proven capability designing scalable systems, processes, SOPs and operating models.
  • Strong experience in technology enablement, systems integration and driving operational efficiency.
  • Experience leading large‑scale projects and managing change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of franchise economics and unit‑level performance drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence multiple stakeholders and functions.
  • Experience in fitness, retail, hospitality, or similar environments is highly desirable.
