Small Animal Medicine Specialist or Registrar
Animalius, Veterinary Hospital | Perth, Western Australia
If your ideal medicine role is more than just a consult list and discharge notes, Animalius might be your place.
We’re looking for a Small Animal Medicine Specialist or Registrar to join our growing internal medicine team—someone who loves deep case work, real-time collaboration, and being part of a hospital where ideas are shared and patients truly benefit from a multidisciplinary approach.
This is medicine that’s thoughtful, hands-on and fully supported.
The work week you’ve been looking for
Arrive at a beautiful, light-filled hospital filled with art, plants and calm, purposeful spaces. Your opinion will be actively sought and genuinely valued in a team where there are no silos—just shared decision-making in the best interests of patients and clients.
You’ll be part of a highly interactive medicine service that believes we are smarter together. Learning, discussion and curiosity are built into how we work, not added on as an afterthought.
You’ll:
- Work closely with surgeons, radiologists, dentists, anaesthetists and hospital vets to create practical, patient-centred diagnostic and treatment plans
- Manage a varied and interesting internal medicine caseload with strong imaging, anaesthesia and surgical support
- Participate in twice-weekly Smarter Together rounds, daily multidisciplinary rounds and weekly journal club
- Join One Health rounds alongside human medical specialists, broadening perspectives and challenging thinking
- Perform and interpret endoscopy procedures using our full suite of high-definition flexible and rigid endoscopes, with support from an experienced nursing team
- Utilise advanced tools including a diode laser and comprehensive in-house diagnostics
- Collaborate closely with our on-site diagnostic imaging department and soft tissue surgical teams, which are integral to how we practise medicine
- Teach and mentor interns, residents and colleagues, contributing to a strong culture of learning
Be supported by dedicated, highly skilled nurses who are deeply involved in patient care and procedures
This is a role where medicine specialists are embedded in the clinical heartbeat of the hospital—not working on the sidelines.
Our medicine team
You’ll be joining a collaborative and supportive department that currently includes:
- Two Small Animal Medicine Specialists
- A third-year resident
- An intern
- Additional experienced hospital veterinarians
- An exceptional team of dedicated medicine nurses
Across the hospital, our clinicians are supported by outstanding imaging, anaesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and nursing teams. We hire for values and invest heavily in team alignment, professional growth and development.
Our facilities (aka, the good stuff)
We’ve built a hospital that allows great medicine to happen, with tools and teams that make thorough, efficient case management the norm:
- A full suite of high-definition flexible and rigid endoscopes
- Diode laser and comprehensive procedural equipment
- Extensive on-site diagnostic imaging with close collaboration between medicine and radiology
- Digital Radiography (DR)
- Siemens Go.Up 64-slice CT
- Siemens Magnetom Sempra 1.5T MRI (with Deep Resolve Boost technology)
- Siemens CIOS Select digital image intensifier
- Experienced soft tissue surgical teams for seamless case progression from diagnosis to intervention
- Modern, thoughtfully designed clinical and client spaces that support calm, focused work
The role
- Full-time preferred (part-time considered)
- Full-time specialists work a 4-day week
- No attending after-hours requirement
- A blend of consultations, procedures, inpatient care and true collaboration across services
