Description

About The Organisation

The Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) is the peak body for Aboriginal community-controlled health services (ACCHS) in the Northern Territory. We aim to grow a strong Aboriginal community controlled primary health care sector.

We walk alongside our members to champion the rights of Aboriginal people to self-determine their health futures. Our work strengthens local leadership, influences national policy, and builds systems that support better health outcomes for our communities.

Our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team supports member services to support the social, emotional, cultural and spiritual well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the Northern Territory.

We focus on the whole person—spirit, body, mind, family, culture, country and community. The SEWB team supports the SEWB and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) workforce, helps services respond to grief, loss and trauma, and leads suicide prevention and healing work that is grounded in Aboriginal community control. Together with our partners, we work to make sure Aboriginal people can access safe, culturally strong care close to home.

We work alongside our member services to build skills and confidence in SEWB, mental health, AOD and trauma-informed care.
