Discharges Team Leader – Lending Operations

Lead a high-performing discharges function in a growing lending business

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Lending Operations & Projects, you’ll own the end-to-end discharge, refinance and extension lifecycle—from request intake through settlement and loan closure. This role blends people leadership, operational control, and stakeholder management, with a sharp focus on accuracy, risk, and service delivery.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach and develop a specialist Discharges team
• Oversee end-to-end processing of loan discharges, refinances and extensions
• Ensure accurate payout calculations, settlements and reconciliations
• Act as the key contact for solicitors, settlement agents and Finance
• Monitor pipelines, SLAs, risk indicators and aged cases
• Strengthen controls, governance and reporting
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and process uplift

 What you’ll bring

•  Degree qualified in Finance, Business, Law, or a related discipline
• Strong experience in loan discharges and settlements (non-bank or financial services)
• Proven people leadership capability
• Deep understanding of payouts, reconciliations, settlements and loan closures
• Experience working with loan management systems and Excel
• Confidence managing time-critical, high-risk transactions
• Ability to interpret legal and financial documentation
