Description

Title:

Production Team Leader

Job Type:

Full-Time (Permanent)

Location:

Gladstone, QLD

Join a highly innovative Australian company leading the world in high purity alumina and aluminium materials production. Play a key role in the commissioning and operational readiness for a greenfield facility. Build a long-term career with a global leader in sustainable advanced manufacturing.

The Organisation

Alpha HPA is a publicly listed, Australian-based company that has commercialised the world’s first solvent extraction (SX) purification technique applied to aluminium. This breakthrough process produces a growing range of ultra-high purity aluminium materials – oxides, hydroxides and nitrates – used across advanced industries such as LED lighting, synthetic sapphire, semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.

Alpha HPA’s materials deliver market-leading purity levels with a significantly lower carbon profile. The Stage One HPA First Project in Gladstone is already in production – the first commercial application of Alpha HPA’s proprietary Smart SXTM process, producing >99.99% pure aluminium products.  Construction of the large-scale Stage Two facility is underway, with full-scale production targeted for mid-2027. Once operational, Alpha HPA will produce 10,000 tonnes of HPA equivalent per year, right here in Gladstone.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to take ownership of a changing production environment and make an impact on operational performance. As a Production Team Leader, you will play a critical role in driving daily operations, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. You will lead from the front, fostering a strong safety culture while guiding your team to achieve production targets and continuously improve the way work is done.

Working closely with your team, you will have the opportunity to develop people, influence positive workplace culture, and contribute to the ongoing success of the operation. ·Safety Culture – Lead with a strong safety-first focus, ensuring compliance with site procedures, legislation, and continuous improvement of safety systems (SOPs, risk assessments, permits).

·Oversee Operations – Manage daily production activities to meet targets for safety, quality, and efficiency, while monitoring plant performance and addressing issues promptly.

·Team Leadership & Development – Lead, coach, and support team members, manage rosters and performance, and foster a positive, high-performing team culture.

·Training & Compliance – Ensure all team members meet training requirements and actively participate in required learning, including out-of-hours sessions when necessary.

·Drive Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance processes, reduce waste, and support maintenance and reliability initiatives.

·Production & Reporting – Maintain accurate production data, inventory tracking, and shift reporting while ensuring compliance with environmental and quality standards.

·Stakeholder Communication & Coordination – Lead production meetings, collaborate across departments, and support emergency response requirements, including acting as an area warden.

About You

You’ll bring:

·Certificate III/IV in Process Plant Operations or equivalent experience.

·Minimum 3–5 years in a production environment, preferably in the alumina refining or manufacturing industry.

·Demonstrated leadership and team management, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

·Strong ability to understand safety systems and undertake risk management.

·Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making ability.

·Ability to understand and interpret technical information from the technical team, and effectively communicate and apply it to production operators and plant processes.
