We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with HV experience to join our growing Engineering team. This role plays a key role in the design and delivery of high-voltage (HV) and power systems for renewable energy and grid-connected projects. Reporting to the Primary Technical Lead, this role supports the design, coordination, and implementation of electrical systems across solar, BESS, and substation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will develop and review LV, MV, and HV electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, general arrangements, and cable schedules.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to integrate solar PV, BESS, and substation infrastructure with grid connection requirements.
- Perform comprehensive electrical studies such as load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination to validate and optimise system performance.
- Prepare and review design reports, equipment specifications, datasheets, and technical drawings in accordance with project and client standards.
- Work closely with procurement and provide construction support by assisting with equipment selection, vendor evaluation, and provide design support during construction phases to ensure constructability and compliance.
- Provide technical input during FAT, SAT, and commissioning to verify installation quality and system performance.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and designers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing
- Be the interface between ACLE and key stakeholders, liaising with clients, utilities, and regulatory authorities to resolve design queries and facilitate approvals
- Contribute and support the standardisation of design templates, process improvements, and application of best practices across projects.
What you will bring to this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in electrical engineering design within the power generation, substation, or renewable energy sector.
- Exposure to HV, Solar Farm or BESS design is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or equivalent design and analysis software.
- Working knowledge of AS/NZS, IEC, and IEEE standards relevant to HV/LV system design.
- Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
- Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Chartered or working towards CPEng or RPEQ (preferred but not essential).
- Field experience in construction, testing, or commissioning of HV/LV systems (Advantageous)
