The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Sydney team of around 40 professionals, based in our CBD office – just a 2-minute stroll from the Sydney Metro Gadigal Station and well-connected by multiple transport options. This role provides an opportunity to join our high performing team and work with other Engineers including Senior and Principal Engineers who are leaders in their areas of expertise.

You will be responsible for:

  • Design and documentation of civil engineering for small to medium sized projects including both greenfield and brownfield developments, building civil, and active transport and roads projects.
  • Civil site re-grading design, road design, stormwater & overland flow management system, bulk earthworks, WSUD and water quantity across a broad spectrum of projects.
  • Coordination with Tonkin’s interdisciplinary team Australia-wide and architects, external consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Escalating critical or complex design issues to senior/principal engineers and project managers.
  • Assist in scoping for proposals and variations.
  • Complying with our quality, WHS and other systems.

You will be working towards (or have already commenced):

  • Attending and participating in design coordination meetings
  • Design and documentation of civil and stormwater engineering elements
  • Identifying and assessing design risks and communicating these to senior engineers
  • Collaborating and working well within a team as well as the drive to grow your career

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • 4-6 years of professional experience with demonstrated civil design experience within urban development and /or built environment engineering.
  • Working towards CPEng and NER
  • Experience in delivering civil projects from concept to detailed design to construction
  • Demonstrated skills in 12d modeling for both civil and stormwater aspects of projects
  • Design capabilities, AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking, Drains and MUSIC.
  • Familiarity with Austroads, Australian Standards, Council Development Control Plans, DA consent conditions.
  • Experience working and coordinating with architects, landscape architects, project managers, contractors, Authorities and clients.
  • Experience coordinating with internal project design resources.
  • Ideally exposed and/or familiar with Tuflow and/or 2D surface modelling.
