You’ll join our Engineering team, a collaborative and highly skilled group dedicated to ensuring the quality and reliability of complex software systems that support national security and defence. The team’s mission is to deliver trusted, high assurance solutions through rigorous testing, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. About the Role

As a Test Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and reliability of our advanced software systems through structured and risk based testing. You’ll be responsible for executing test cases, identifying and reporting defects, and collaborating closely with developers and analysts to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards. Your work will directly contribute to the delivery of secure and dependable technologies that support national defence and intelligence capabilities. This role also offers opportunities for professional growth, with scope to develop your technical expertise, contribute to process improvements, and support the development of junior team members.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, execute, and maintain functional, regression, and exploratory test cases.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using test management tools such as Jira or Zephyr.
  • Collaborate with developers and analysts to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare and manage test environments and data and contribute to test automation initiatives.
  • Analyse test results, document findings, and support continuous improvement of testing processes.
  • Apply risk based testing approaches to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Participate in team reviews, knowledge sharing, and contribute to a culture of quality and innovation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience with test management and automation tools (e.g. Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, AIOTest).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with browser development tools.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet project deadlines.
  • A methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving in complex technical environments.
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance.
  • Knowledge of software principles and languages and familiarity of DevSecOps methodology are highly desirable.

Qualifications

Relevant bachelor’s degree in software engineering, or equivalent experience.
