About the position:
You’ll work alongside experienced professionals across multiple departments, leading and developing a team of brokers and support staff while delivering tailored lending solutions to clients purchasing investment properties. Reporting to the Managing Director you’ll play a key role in driving performance, supporting complex deals, and ensuring consistency and quality across the lending function.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, leading from the front, and guiding both clients and team members through important financial decisions. You’ll also have the opportunity to shape and improve systems, processes, and team structure as we continue to scale our lending operations.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead and develop a team of mortgage brokers and support staff.
- Set clear expectations around deal quality, conversion, and client outcomes.
- Coach brokers to improve structuring, lender selection, and submission quality.
Hands-On Lending Oversight
- Work directly with brokers on complex scenarios and deal structuring.
- Step into files where needed to unblock or progress deals.
- Ensure consistency in how deals are packaged and presented to lenders.
Process & System Improvement
- Refine workflows across application, processing, and settlement.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions.
- Work closely with internal teams to align lending with the broader client journey.
Third-Party Relationship Management
- Build and manage relationships with lenders, solicitors, and property stock providers.
- Maintain strong communication channels to ensure smooth deal progression.
- Leverage partner relationships to improve turnaround times, outcomes and client experience,
Team Growth
- Support hiring and onboarding of additional brokers and support staff.
- Build a structure that allows the team to scale without losing quality.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of three years experience in a similar role.
- Cert IV in Mortgage Broking (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and performance within a lending or sales environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess scenarios and identify the best path forward.
- Confidence working through complex deals and guiding others to better outcomes.
- Ability to step between strategy and execution without losing momentum.
- High level of ownership and accountability for both individual and team results.
