Graduate Transport Engineer

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Graduate Transport Engineer to assist our growing South Australian team. This role provides an opportunity to work on a range civil infrastructure projects in the roads & highways, rail, aviation and ports sectors and contribute to the growth of the Tonkin’s Adelaide office.

Who You Are:

  • A passionate and proactive team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • A technical problem-solver with demonstrated experience in a range of Australian civil infrastructure projects.
  • Enthusiastic about working in multi-disciplinary teams in a national team format.

Where You Are:

The role is located in Adelaide however the candidate will work on projects throughout Australia, predominately South Australia, NSW and Victoria.

What You Bring:

  • Relevant Qualification: A recent degree qualification in civil engineering or related discipline (Engineers Australia accreditation).
  • Up to two years industry experience, though not mandatory.
  • Efficient multi-tasker with a fundamental understanding of project delivery processes and attention to detail.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the design and delivery of a range of transport infrastructure projects under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Work closely with Project Leaders and senior team members to support various stages of project development.
  • Contribute to the preparation of high-quality engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports, and technical documents.
  • Support the review of standards, codes, and regulations relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Participate in team meetings, site visits, and technical discussions to build practical experience and project understanding.

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, meeting agreed timelines and quality expectations.
  • Participate in internal training and development programs to build technical and project management skills.
  • Begin building positive working relationships with clients through professional communication and reliable support.
