POSITION SUMMARY
Surfing NSW is seeking a Communications & Digital Lead with strong copywriting skills and the ability to manage and support our digital and social media strategy. This role is responsible for shaping how Surfing NSW communicates with its community, stakeholders, and partners, ensuring our stories cut through and our brand voice is consistent across all platforms.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Partnerships, you’ll be the driver of clear, impactful communications that bring our programs, events, athletes, and culture to life. You’ll also oversee Surfing NSW’s digital and social channels, ensuring content is timely, engaging, and aligned with our strategy. This role is ideal for a skilled communicator who is equally comfortable and experienced writing media releases and EDMs, managing social channels, and engaging stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications
- Write and edit marketing and communications copy across EDMs, press releases, campaigns, and web.
- Ensure all communications uphold Surfing NSW’s brand voice, tone, and consistency.
- Manage stakeholder communications, including clubs, partners, and community updates.
- Identify and amplify stories from across the surfing community.
- Support internal and external messaging for programs, safety, and events.
Digital & Social Media
- Manage Surfing NSW’s social channels, ensuring consistent and engaging content delivery, that supports overall strategy.
- Build and manage the digital content calendar, aligning posts with campaigns, events, and milestones.
- Publish real-time content during events and campaigns.
- Track performance and analyse engagement data to inform digital strategy.
- Stay across global and local content trends to keep Surfing NSW’s channels relevant.
Content Support
- Collaborate with designers, photographers, and videographers to produce strong campaign assets.
- Brief contractors or creators as needed to support campaigns and events.
- Coordinate media assets and maintain Surfing NSW’s content library.
Analytics and Reporting
- Monitor digital channels daily, tracking engagement, sentiment, and community conversations.
- Analyse performance data across website, EDM, and social channels to identify opportunities for growth and improved engagement.
- Deliver monthly, annual, and event-specific reporting to inform strategy, measure impact, and strengthen partner relationships.

- Experienced in communications, with proven capability across media, marketing, or stakeholder engagement
- Confident running social media channels end-to-end, with a solid understanding of platform trends and analytics
- Organised, detail-driven, and comfortable juggling deadlines across multiple campaigns and live events
- A natural relationship-builder who can connect with athletes, clubs, and partners
- Someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and isn’t afraid to take initiative
- Strong self-management skills, with a track record of driving projects from start to finish independently
- Willing to travel across NSW and occasionally work weekends to support event execution.
