From 4-6 February, thousands of manuhiri will visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds to commemorate, learn, and connect. To help create a safe, welcoming, and unforgettable experience, we are calling for passionate kaitūao (volunteers) to join our team.
Why Volunteer?
Kaitūao play a crucial role in ensuring the festival runs smoothly. Their mahi upholds manaakitanga, keeps our spaces safe, and supports visitors from all over Aotearoa and the world. It’s a great way to support the community, gain work and event experience and contribute to the success of one of our nation’s most significant annual event.
Roles
All roles are voluntary, you will be provided with a volunteer polo and appropriate PPE.
Manuhiri | Visitor Support
Duties may include:
- Being stationed around the Waitangi Treaty Grounds answering general questions, offering friendly guidance & giving directions
- Driving a golf cart to assist the elderly and those with mobility issues.
- Ensuring everyone feels cared for, informed, and supported
- General assistance & support
If you enjoy meeting people, have a calm and caring approach, and embody manaakitanga, this role is perfect for you.
Hāpai i muri | Background Support
This role is essential to ensuring that our manuhiri experience a safe, comfortable environment.
Background Support duties may include:
- Refreshing and tidying key public areas
- Topping up supplies such as toilet paper and sanitiser in portaloos
- Supporting the Grounds team with light cleaning tasks as needed
- Notifying staff if any areas need attention or maintenance
- Setting up/packing down chairs for pōwhiri
If you’re practical, reliable, and enjoy contributing to the smooth running of events, this is a valuable way to support the kaupapa.
