About the Lecturing roles
Primary responsibilities include:
• Tutoring in agreed subject areas and managing teaching and assessment of units being delivered.
• Participating in the administration, assessment, and examination of students.
• Contributing to scholarship activities in Social Work.
Selection Criteria for Lecturing Roles
• Hold a PhD, Masters, or postgraduate qualification in relevant Social Work discipline, or Bachelor with extensive relevant experience.
• Lecturing and teaching experience (3+ years experience would be an advantage).
• An understanding of current and emerging trends in Social Work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students; ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues.
• Technological literacy and experience in developing online communication tools and previous experience in online education is desirable.
• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and ability to work with students, staff, and administrators, including pastoral skills in mentoring staff and supporting students.
About the Field Education Roles
Primary responsibilities include:
• Providing specialised support to students undertaking field education components of study;
• To support students with quality, value-added education, which fosters students’ ability to integrate theory to practice critically reflect, understand and respond to diverse needs and situations, and to practise creatively;
• Monitors student professional development and academic performance throughout the placement.
Selection Criteria for Field Education Roles
• Eligible for full membership of the AASW with a minimum two years full-time post-qualifying practice experience.
• An understanding of current and emerging trends in Social Work and training.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues from diverse cultural, religious, gender and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
• A keen awareness of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities in various contexts, and support student learning and engagement with these diverse populations
• Technological literacy to support face-to-face teaching and learning; experience enhancing in-person education through digital tools is desirable.
• Evidence of a capacity to contribute to effective administration.
