Welcome back to another edition of the Employment Hero product update, where we share all of the latest and greatest updates over the past month.
This month, we’ll be sharing changes to our Goals module, in-platform Reference Checks, using Hero Points under FBT exemptions and lots more.
Let’s get to it.
In-platform reference checks
With so many stages involved in the hiring process, we’re making one very important step a whole lot easier for hiring managers. With our in-platform reference checks you’ll be able to complete an employment reference check for a candidate, at any given time during the hiring process.
With this new feature, you’d simply request referee details from the candidate and contact the listed referees for more information right within the platform. Plus, you can even send a customised questionnaire or set up a call via Calendly.

You can now choose preferred pronouns in the Employee Profile
We’ve added the ability for employees to add their preferred pronouns in their Employee Profile via the Personal Details tab.
You can now embed email and hyperlinks into ATS messaging
Our recruitment module keeps getting better and better. We’ve made further enhancements to our ATS messaging capability, allowing you to embed email address links and hyperlinks when messaging from within the ATS.
You can now add files to Goals
Setting goals is one of the most beneficial ways to keep your team engaged and motivated in their role. That’s why we’re excited to share that you can now upload and download files when creating new goals and editing existing goals.
The minimum wages for all 51 pre-built system awards have been updated
The minimum wages for all 51 pre-built system awards have been updated according to the FWC’s Annual Wage Review 2022–23.

Back Payment Automation Update
Users can now significantly improve the way they back-pay their employees. Previously, processing a back payment required manually identifying the pay periods that an employee’s pay was subject to a back payment, then manually calculating the back payment needed based on previously paid earnings, and then manually calculating the tax associated with such back pay.
To remove the many steps involved in this process, we’ve recently implemented a new back pay feature that automates many of the current manual processes. Users can now manage the process of back-paying an employee in a simple 3-step process. In addition to automating this process, we have also factored in STP requirements regarding how earnings need to be reported for both the current and prior financial years.

[Coming soon]: Salary sacrificing via Swag
We’re excited to announce an upcoming enhancement to the Swag app which aims to streamline salary sacrifice arrangements for superannuation. Salary sacrificing into superannuation offers tax advantages and allows employees to contribute more towards their future financial security.
The new feature has been designed to make it easier for your employees to request voluntary super contributions via the Swag Money tab.
This means less back-and-forth, and more freedom for your employees to self-serve.
Once an employee has requested this via the Swag app, an email notification will be sent to your payroll admin with clear instructions on how to set up these deductions in Employment Hero Payroll.
The Super Salary Sacrifice feature is in the final stages of development and will be rolled out to our Swag users early August. This article covers the user experience from an employee perspective, while these FAQs should answer any questions you might have.
