Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest growers and packers of carrots, onions and potatoes, supplying major supermarket chains, independent retailers, and export markets nationwide.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our team at our Parilla office in South Australia.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic agribusiness environment, supporting the financial operations of our potato, carrot and onion divisions. Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant and working closely with the CFO, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support business performance and compliance.
As Assistant Accountant, you will contribute to operational finance activities, ensuring strong financial controls and supporting informed decision-making across the business.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting the Financial Accountant and CFO to optimise financial and operational performance across the Pye Group
- Reviewing and accurately processing supplier invoices
- Preparing and processing weekly payment runs and ad hoc payments
- Maintaining the vendor database and resolving invoice/payment discrepancies
- Reconciling supplier statements at month-end
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes and general ledger reconciliations
- Managing project-related payments and maintaining supporting documentation
- Preparing weekly shed, labour, and market KPI reports
- Performing daily bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow
- Completing monthly intercompany, hire purchase and credit card reconciliations
- Supporting internal and external audit processes
- Identifying opportunities to improve automation and workflow efficiency
- Assisting with financial reporting, analysis and ad hoc projects as required
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance/accounting role
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly advanced Excel capability
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Full and unrestricted driver’s licence (essential)
