Assistant / Management Accountant

Yatsal is a proudly family-owned Australian business with a strong reputation and a growing national presence. We are looking for an experienced Assistant / Management Accountant to join our expanding finance team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will support day-to-day accounting operations while playing a key role in month-end reporting, compliance, and financial analysis. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced business and enjoys improving systems and processes.
You will support the controllership function and help ensure our financial information is accurate, timely, and meaningful, while overseeing core transactional finance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing bank reconciliations and supporting the month-end close process
- Overseeing Accounts Payable and assisting with Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintaining the Fixed Assets Register
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow modelling
- Reconciling general ledger accounts and improving system and process efficiency
- Supporting internal and external audit activities
- Assisting with FBT, Company Tax, GST, and Withholding Tax compliance
- Preparing and analysing financial data for management reporting
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve productivity
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellent service
- Completing ad hoc tasks as required
About You
You are proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You take ownership of your work, meet deadlines, and look for ways to add value beyond the basics.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards qualification preferred
- 4+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role
- Strong Excel skills including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and macros
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience with Attache or similar accounting systems
- A professional approach and strong sense of confidentiality
