About this role:
The Leading Hand position at Wormall Civil plays a crucial role in assisting with coordinating and supervising construction activities to ensure the successful completion of projects. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Leading Hand provides hands-on leadership and support to the construction team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members. The Leading Hand is expected to supervise the project in the Site Supervisors absence or when otherwise instructed to.
What your day will look like:
• Oversee and coordinate construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Provide guidance and support to the construction team, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to achieve project objectives.
• Collaborate with the Site Supervisor and other stakeholders to plan and coordinate construction activities, resources, and schedules.
• Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring their timely availability for construction works.
• Apply strong technical knowledge and expertise in civil construction techniques, methods, and equipment.
• Provide guidance and support to the team in resolving technical challenges and implementing best practices.
• Assist in the organisation and maintenance of the construction site, including storage and management of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure a clean and safe work environment, implementing effective site logistics and waste management practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, permits, and contractual obligations.
• Maintain accurate records, including site diaries, progress reports, and incident reports.
About you:
• Demonstrated experience in civil construction, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction techniques, methods, and safety practices.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Sound understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with Western Australia’s construction regulations and requirements is advantageous.
• Availability and ability to work reasonable overtime, including Saturday’s. This may include other projects when required.
Qualifications and skillset needed:
• Minimum 3 years civil construction experience, across a range of undertakings is highly desirable.
• Cert IV in Site Supervision or willingness to work towards achieving.
• Cert IV in Leadership Management, or willingness to work towards achieving.
• First Aid, PVC, and ATCO Gas (Common Trenching) certification, or willingness to work towards achieving.
• Construction Card.
• Valid and Current WA Drivers Licence.
