Cable Layer – Western Power Accredited

About this role:

A Cable Layer is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various cable systems, including telecommunications and electrical cables. This role is integral to ensuring high-quality cable connections for civil construction projects across Perth and regional areas.

What your day will look like:

• Install and lay cables for various systems such as telecommunications and electrical cables in accordance with project specifications.

• Operate trenching and excavation machinery to prepare sites for cable laying.

• Ensure all cable installations are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

• Collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to meet project milestones.

• Maintain accurate records of work completed and assist in the preparation of reports.

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of installed cable systems.

• Adhere to health and safety guidelines, maintaining a safe working environment.

• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of faulty cables when necessary.

About you:

• Proven experience as a Western Power Accredited Cable Layer or similar role in the civil construction industry.

• Ability to operate heavy machinery and trenching equipment safely.

• Strong understanding of cable types and installation procedures.

• Solid knowledge of construction safety standards and practices.

• Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.

• Excellent teamwork skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward resolving issues.

Qualification and skillsets needed:

• Western Power Accreditation.

• Current and valid Australian Drivers Licence – C Class.

• Relevant qualifications or tickets, and other industry certifications.

• Construction/ White Card.
