We are now seeking Expressions of Interest for a Head of Legal (Maternity Leave Cover) in a sole legal position within the Finance and Legal team on a fixed-term, part-time basis for 10 months.

About the role
This role provides timely, practical and commercially focused legal
support across the Club, with a strong emphasis on contract review,
negotiation and management and privacy and data governance. The Head of
Legal will:
- Oversee the end-to-end contract management process, ensuring agreements are executed in
line with policy, appropriately recorded and actively monitored for key obligations and milestones; and
- Act as the Club’s Privacy Officer, providing timely advice and guidance on the management and Governance of Club data including PII.
The role also supports the Club across a broad range of legal matters, including compliance, competitions, waivers, data governance and privacy, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to support both operational and strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will be responsible for:
- Reviewing legally binding terms in commercial contracts and providing clear, practical recommendations to protect the Club’s interests and mitigate risk.
- Ensuring all contracts are executed in accordance with Club policies and processes.
- Managing the administration of the Club’s contract management system across supplier, sponsorship, premium hospitality and non-disclosure agreements.
- Tracking and reporting on key contractual obligations and milestones.
- Reviewing terms and conditions for competitions and waivers to ensure compliance with Club requirements.
- Supporting the delivery of data governance and privacy practices across the Club
- Providing legal advice and assistance on a range of matters.
- Undertaking other ad hoc legal and commercial support as needed.
Our ideal person
This role would suit a legally qualified professional who is highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment. You will bring strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Sound knowledge of contract law and best-practice contract management processes.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Privacy and data laws and best-practice data management processes
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong cultural alignment with the Club’s values and ways of working.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word and Excel).
